Q: What are the Common Core State Standards?
A: The Common Core State Standards, incorporated into Ohio’s Learning Standards by Ohio’s State Board of Education in 2010, establish clear expectations about what students should know and be able to do when completing grades K–12 in mathematics and English Language Arts.
They are essential to preparing our children for success in college, careers, and life.
Standards Revision Process
The Ohio Department of Education is currently in the process of updating Ohio’s Learning Standards.
In 2016, Ohio’s English language arts and mathematics standards were reviewed by the public and revised changes, made by educator working groups and advisory committees, were presented to the Ohio House and Senate Education Committees as well as the State Board of Education.
